KIDS SAFETY VILLAGE OF DURHAM REGION


Pedestrian Safety

Offered October, November, April, May and June
on Mondays, Wednesday and Thursdays

Grade 2/3 students will start their visit in the classroom learning about what a pedestrian is and watch a fun filled video made here at the Village.

They will learn how to be a safe pedestrian while crossing streets and what to look for. After the in class instruction they will attend the outside Village and practice the skills they learned in the classroom.

If you attend on a Monday

Your class will learn about Pedestrian Safety and Electrical Safety

Grade 2/3 students will start their visit in the classroom learning about what a pedestrian is and watch a fun filled video made here at the Village.

They will learn how to be a safe pedestrian while crossing streets and what to look for. After the in class instruction they will attend the outside Village and practice the skills they learned in the classroom.

We welcomed Elexicon to our Kids Safety Village family of sponsors. Elexicon’s new mascot “Lucky the Squirrel” will show kids why it’s not safe to touch powerlines or electrical equipment.

Students will also get to see miniature versions of powerlines and electrical boxes in our Village.

If you attend on a Wednesday

Your class will learn about Pedestrian Safety and Fire Safety

Grade 2/3 students will start their visit in the classroom learning about what a pedestrian is and watch a fun filled video made here at the Village.

They will learn how to be a safe pedestrian while crossing streets and what to look for. After the in class instruction they will attend the outside Village and practice the skills they learned in the classroom.

Students will also learn about some of the top causes of fire in the community, fire prevention techniques, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, home escape planning and general fire hazards.

If you attend on a Thursday

Your class will learn about Pedestrian Safety/and instruction from EMS

Grade 2/3 students will start their visit in the classroom learning about what a pedestrian is and watch a fun filled video made here at the Village.

They will learn how to be a safe pedestrian while crossing streets and what to look for. After the in class instruction they will attend the outside Village and practice the skills they learned in the classroom.

Your students will also have instruction from EMS that covers topics such as personal safety and playground safety.

Schedule for the day

10am Arrive at Village
10am-10:45am Pedestrian Safety
10:45am-11:00am  Snack Break
11am-11:45am Fire, EMS or Elexicon class instruction (depending on day you attend)
11:45am-12:10pm Lunch
12:10pm-1pm Children will be able to explore the Village while using scooters and have an opportunity to explore inside the Village buildings.
1pm  End of day

Maximum 30 students per class up to 2 classes per visit.
